Okay I admit it, this year has been a roller coaster. And children’s education has had one heck of a turn of events. I’ve watched so many parents start questioning traditional schooling, rightfully so. They’re stuck in a position where they have to stay home from work to be with their kids who used to have a secure place to go to while they worked. And they are learning online and via zoom calls. I can imagine just how isolating that can be not only for the parents but the kids too. One day they left for spring break and never returned to school, where their friends, favorite teachers and counselors were there for them 5 days a week.
If you’re one of those parents questioning this process and you’re looking for other options, welcome! You deserve to have all the options out there so you can find what will truly work for you and your children. No one way is the best way and you’re entitled to your own custom way. After all, every single person is different and they deserve an education tailored to their needs, interests, and true education level. (Hint: their education level isn’t based on age)

What many don’t realize is that homeschool doesn’t have to be “school at home”. It can be literally whatever you make it to be that coincides with your local and state laws and regulations. And there are now TONS of free and paid resources for homeschoolers. So if you jump onto the homeschool bandwagon you will know you truly are not alone. Everywhere you look there is help. And nowadays I’m almost positive you can find a homeschool co-op group to join so your kids can socialize and build relationships with people outside the house.
According to The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the number of homeschooling families doubled from 850,000 in 1999 to 1.7 million in 2016! Homeschooling is becoming quite the norm now. If almost 2 million families can do it, you can too!
